Nine first-year students were injured and admitted to the Balangoda Base Hospital following a clash between two groups of Sabaragamuwa University undergraduates, police said.
A hospital spokesperson said the conditions of the undergraduates are not serious.
Police said the injured were attacked by two groups of third and fourth year undergraduates of the Faculty of Management last night (15).
The senior students who entered the Dayasanti Hostal of the University have assaulted the first year students accusing them of not shaving their beards and trimming their hair.
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident and the Samanalawewa Police is conducting further investigations.
