The Customs has seized 04 containers of ready-made garments worth Rs. 150 million, which were imported from Malaysia under the guise of importing fabrics.
These containers were imported by 03 importers, who are residents of Panadura, Wattala and Colombo 10.
Upon inspecting one container, Customs Officers had found around 33,000 – 44,000 ready made garments. Around 160,000 garments have been found from all 04 containers.
State Minister of Finance – Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and the Director General of Customs had also inspected this consignment and a comprehensive investigation is underway.
