A committee has been appointed to probe into the incident where a Grade One student at the Weheragoda Junior School in Wellampitiya had died after a wall at the school collapsed yesterday.
Western Province Governor Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Goonetileke says that he gave instructions to the Chief Secretary of Western Province Pradeep Yasaratne in this regard.
The Governor adds that necessary measures will be taken against the culprits that after receiving the relevant report within a week.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rukshan Bellana, Deputy Director of the Colombo National Hospital, says that another student who was injured in the accident is in critical condition.
05 children injured in the incident are still receiving treatment at the National Hospital.
A structure had been constructed opposite the Grade 1 classroom of the school with taps attached to it and a sink made of concrete for students to fill water. It had collapsed on the group of children who came near it during the interval.
