The Constitutional Council has approved the appointment of Murdhu Fernando as the Chief Justice.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Constitutional Council held last night led by Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana.
The recommendation to appoint Murdhu Fernando was forwarded to the Constitutional Council by the President.
