The Ministry of Transport and Highways has announced the resumption of construction on the Central Expressway section between Kadawatha and Mirigama, funded by local aid.
According to ministry secretary – K.D.S. Ruwanchandra, Rs. 7.5 billion will be allocated for the first phase of construction.
A cabinet paper has already been submitted for this purpose and the project will be undertaken by the companies currently selected for the construction.
The 37-kilometer section includes three inter-changes and work initially began in 2020 but was halted midway amid the economic crisis.
