The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) will not convene meetings until further notice, Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed the House today (Nov.17).
As such, the COPE meeting scheduled to be held at 1:00 p.m. today (17) has been postponed.
The Speaker revealed this in response to a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa during Day 4 of the ongoing debate on the Second Reading of 2024 Appropriation Bill (78th Budget Speech).
Previously, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa had called Parliament to replace COPE Chairman from the position due to conflict of interests with Sri Lanka Cricket.
