Couple arrested at BIA over Rs. 1.8 billion pyramid scheme fraud
A 52-year-old Sri Lankan man was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) upon his arrival from Malaysia for allegedly defrauding Rs. 1,800 million from multiple individuals through a pyramid scheme before fleeing the country a year ago.
His wife, who came to the airport to meet him, was also taken into custody, according to Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa.
