The Fort Magistrate has issued an order preventing National People’s Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and 25 others from engaging in protest or demonstration in several areas in the Colombo Fort causing inconvenience to the public and motorists from 1.00 pm till 8.00 pm today.
The Fort Police has requested the Fort Magistrate that a group of protesters was planning to hold a protest demonstration in Kollupitiya, Slave Island and Fort Police areas and to enter the President’s Office and several other buildings. Accordingly, the OIC of the Fort Police has requested the Magistrate to issue an order preventing the protest march.
Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered the protesters not to enter the President’s Office, President’s House, Finance Ministry and Galle Face Green area and not to block the roads causing inconvenience to the public and motorists.
Also, they were prevented from damaging public properties and not engaging in any activity that could lead to any violence, police said.
