CPC suspends dispensing fuel into barrels & cans

Published

on

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has suspended pumping of fuel to barrels and cans with immediate effect.

The decision was taken due to reports of unnecessary congestion at filling stations caused by consumers gathering hoard fuel in this manner.

Noting that the decision has been communicated to fuel station owners the CPC warned disciplinary action will be taken against those who violate it.

Speaking at the cabinet briefing yesterday (June 17), Cabinet Spokesman – Minister Nalinda Jayatissa emphasized that there is no shortage of fuel and that the panic-driven demand is unwarranted.
