The Ceylon Teachers Service Union (CTSU) has stated their decision to resort to a trade union action against the existing salary disparities.
Accordingly, the CTSU secretary – Dhammika Mirihana states that deans and teachers of NIE, Government Teacher Colleges and Teaching Centres will engage in a token strike today and tomorrow (April 29 – 30).
Noting that no allowances are granted to them apart from their salaries, he points out that they have been treated unfairly due to this.
