The main suspect in the death of the 16-year-old girl who died mysteriously after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Kalutara has confessed to the Kalutara South Police that the girl jumped from a window after she received a phone call.
Followed by a phone call, the girl has allegedly said ‘I trusted you but you deceived me. What am I going to do now?”
According to the suspect, the girl had gone to the window of the room, placed a chair and then jumped out of the window.
The girl’s post-mortem examination was held on May 7 at the Kalutara Hospital, where the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) gave an open verdict and recommended that samples obtained be sent to the government analyst.
The JMO’s report further said that the student had not been raped.
However, it has been mentioned that the student’s body had scratches and bite marks.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the student was brought to the hotel by her friend Pabasara and her boyfriend Ihan to sell her for money.
It has been reported that Pabasara had tactically kept the student in the room with an unknown person while the coordination was done by her boyfriend.
The arrested suspect further said that he knew Ihan. “We meet often. Ihan came to Kalutara in my car on the 6th. Had lunch at a restaurant. In the evening, Ihan came with his girlfriend and another girl. I had never seen her before. That was the first time I saw her. Ihan had already booked rooms in the hotel. The four of us went to the hotel in my car. We had alcohol. Then they both went to the other room. Vihara and I were in one room. I did not rape her. She was already naked and was under the influence of liquor. That’s when she received two phone calls,” he said.
Meanwhile, the last rites of the girl took place yesterday (09) at the Atawila Public Cemetery, Kalutara.
