The number of dengue cases reported in the country has exceeded 56,000, the National Dengue Control Unit said.
It said that 50 percent of the cases were reported in the Western Province while a significant number of cases have also been reported from the districts of Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Trincomalee and Batticaloa.
National Dengue Control Unit Director Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne said the risk of dengue spread continues.
