Colombo National Hospital Physiologist Dr. Upul Dissanayake said that the lives of dengue patients are at risk due to unqualified doctors providing painkillers other than paracetamol in private hospitals.

While speaking at a news briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau yesterday (17), Dr. Dissanayake said that some qualified doctors also tend to provide various painkillers.

He said that influenza and other fever diseases are also spreading these days apart from dengue.

Dr.Dissanayake said that the patient and the patient’s family should be attentive whether the doctor gives painkillers other than paracetamol when they have a fever.
