“Deshabandu has committed crimes, should not be made IGP” (Video)
Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon is a person who has committed a crime and therefore, he should not be made the Inspector General of Police, former Central Province Governor Maithri Gunaratne said.
He said that SDIG Tennakoon has caused great destruction by ignoring the order given by the then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to prevent the mob from entering the ‘Gota Go Gama’ at the Galle Face Green.
Mr.Gunaratne said that 101 houses were destroyed due to the failure to follow this order.
He said the decision on the case against SDIG Tennakoon for failing to implement the order of the then President and the Inspector General of Police will be announced by the Court of Appeal President Bandula Karunaratne and Judge Marikkar on March 27.
