Suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, is currently held in solitary confinement on the upper floor of the “K ward” at Dumbara Prison.
According to reports, there are no other prisoners in the upper floor cells of the “K ward” and he is kept alone as a security measure.
Sources also say that prison officers at the Dumbara Prison have also commented that Deshabandu has not caused them trouble, unlike other high-profile prisoners.
Reports further notes that he has remained quietly in his prison cell for the past 05 days and following a second request made to the prison authorities, he has now been granted library privileges.
According to prison sources, he has already finished reading 05 books within 05 days.
Meanwhile, media had also reported that CID officers had visited the prison in the past two days and recorded statements from him.
