A well known Kandy businessman Don Rajeewa Mangala Gunawardena-54, also known as Digana-Mangala, shot committed suicide by shooting himself yesterday (16).
The shooting took place around 12.15pm at his workplace, which is located on the upper floor of a three-story commercial building in Digana, owned by himself.
Police investigations have revealed that the victim owned multiple businesses in Kandy, Pallekele, Digana, and Teldeniya, among other cities throughout the country.
Furthermore, he owned car sales , pawning and mortgage centers, furniture enterprises, numerous trade agencies, and a number of other large-scale businesses.
The reason behind the alleged suicide is unknown.
Further investigations are underway.
