The discussions held in France yesterday (02) between the Sri Lankan Ambassador and the French authorities have been successful in order to extradite Sinhara Amal Saminda Silva alias Ratmalane Kudu Anju to Sri Lanka.

Although Sri Lanka has no agreement with the French Government to extradite individuals under the extradition law, it has been discussed to send Kudu Anju to Sri Lanka under another methodology.

The Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Ministry has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting all necessary works in this regard.

Accordingly, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take further steps.

The final report must be given to the French Government for the extradition of Kudu Anju within 30 days.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Attorney General’s Department and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must compile the evidence provided by the Mt. Lavinia Police and prepare the final report.

Next, the final report should be sent to the French Government with the signature of Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne as per the Extradition Act requesting the extradition of Kudu Anju to Sri Lanka.
