The Election Commission announces that the secure packets containing official postal ballot papers will be distributed to their respective destinations today (Aug. 26) via special mail.
Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, confirmed that the distribution will occur under stringent security measures.
The secure packets were delivered to the postal department yesterday.
This year, a total of 712,319 government employees have qualified for postal voting.
In addition, official ballot papers are scheduled to be delivered to the postal department on the 2nd, with the 8th designated as a special day for their distribution.
