Doctors’ DAT allowance & uni. lecturers’ study allowance upped

Cabinet approval has been granted to a proposal by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to double the Disturbance, Availability and Transport (DAT) allowance paid for government doctors, the President’s Media Division says.

Accordingly the DAT will be increased from Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 70,000.

In addition, university lecturers will see a 25% increase in their study allowance, set to be included in their January salary.
