Preliminary discussions have already been launched to conduct medical examinations of drivers involved in fatal road accidents, police said.
Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nihal Thalduwa said people drive vehicles after consuming not only alcohol but also harmful drugs.
“In the future, necessary equipment will be brought to conduct tests for alcohol and drugs. Once a driver is arrested, they will be brought before a doctor to conduct medical tests to detect drugs. If there is a road accident, the responsible driver will be presented to a doctor to check if he has taken any toxic drugs. The Senior DIG Traffic will initiate these discussions and implement these plans in the future,” he said.
