The government has decided to suspend the E-Passport project.
The Ministry of Public Security said that about 750,000 electronic passports will have to be issued annually.
A colossal amount of about USD 15 million will have to be spent for this and machines worth USD 1 million will have to be purchased.
Accordingly, it has been decided to continue the current system of issuing passports and to reconsider electronic passports in the future.
