An 18-year-old Buddhist monk was killed after an earth embankment collapsed on the Eduwawa Raja Maha Vihara in Peradeniya.
Police said the earth mound had collapsed on the Thera while he was performing a pooja in the temple.
The body has been placed at the Peradeniya Hospital.
