Dr. Ajith Amarasinghe has resigned from the chairmanship and party membership of the Eksath Janaraja Peramuna (EJP).
The EJP’s politburo recently decided to contest the upcoming General Election while stepping away from the Samagi Jana Bayawegaya political alliance, and Dr. Amarasinghe had taken the above decision as a mark of protest against this.
He had tendered his resignation (shown below) to the party General Secretary – K.A. Bandula Chandrasekara on Oct. 10.
The EJP National Organizer – Sampath Sumedha Pujitha Rathnayake has also opposed the party politburo move and decided to contest the General Election under the Samagi Jana Bayawegaya.
Also, a former senior Vice President of the party – Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe is also contesting under the ‘cylinder’ symbol.
