Several employees of the Export Development Board (EDB) had walked out of the hall when its Chairman Suresh de Mel was preparing to deliver a speech at the New Year’s commencement ceremony.
The employees have walked out protesting cuts in their transport allowances.
However, the Chairman has made his speech to an audience of about 10 employees who remained in the hall.
He told the media that discussions are ongoing with the minister regarding incentives and he regretted employees walking out in this manner.
