A retired Army soldier was arrested in the Embilipitiya area yesterday (Nov. 04 =) with several firearms and sharp weapons.
Police say that they had raided the stash after receiving a tipoff.
The seized weapons include an AK47 firearm, a pistol, 25 bullets of a 7.62 firearm, 07 bullets of a 09 mm firearm, a magazine of an AK47 weapon, two swords and a knife.
The suspect is revealed to be a 59 year old retired Army personnel who is a resident of the Embilipitiya area.
Investigations have also revealed that he is also a close associate of an individual involved in organized crime and drug peddling.
Further investigations are underway.
