The Special Criminal Investigation Unit of Kandy has launched an investigation to arrest the son of a prominent car dealership owner in Kandy for allegedly swindling millions of rupees from several people with the promise of selling their vehicles on behalf of them.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect is a son-in-law of former Cabinet Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena.
The investigation has been launched following complaints made by several businessmen in Polonnaruwa to the Special Criminal Investigation Unit of Polonnaruwa that they have not given money they were entitled to after the suspect had sold their vehicles.
It was also reported that the car dealership owner has imported luxury vehicles such as V-8 and had gotten them released without paying taxes.
