The VIP Security Division has launched an investigation into an incident of a toll booth gate falling on the vehicle in which former President Maithripala Sirisena was travelling in, at the Kurunegala Interchange on the Central Expressway last morning (04).
It was reported that this is the second occasion that the toll gate has fallen on the car of the former President.
The investigation is being conducted to find out whether it was the same officer who was on duty on both occasions, or whether this was a coincidence.
