Expressways toll revenue sees 30% boost

The Road Development Authority (RDA) has acquired a record income through expressway tolls from April 11 – 13 just ahead of the Sri Lankan and Tamil New Year.

A total of 387,586 vehicles had used the expressways on 11, 12 and 13 April, generating an income of Rs. 134,498,800, according to the Director of Expressway Operation Maintenance and Management Division, R.A.D. Kahatapitiya.

The revenue is up by 30% in comparison to the income generated during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Deputy General Manager (Operations) of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) – T.H.R.T. Chandrasiri has said that the SLTB has earned nearly Rs. 6,000 million from April 11-13.

The SLTV added extra buses during the festive season to meet with the seasonal travel rush.
