The official Facebook page of the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth in Kandy) has issued a public notice over a fake Whatsapp message being circulated over the upcoming sacred exposition of the revered Tooth Relic (Siri Dalada Dakma), scheduled to be held from April 18 – 27.
Including a bank account, the fake message states that anyone who wishes to donate money for the cause, can deposit it to the said account.
Emphasising that the message is entirely fake, the statement issued by the Sri Dalada Maligawa firmly clarifies that all necessary facilities for the exposition are being provided by the Sri Dalada Maligawa in collaboration with the government.
Furthermore, the statement further informs the public that the Sri Dalada Maligawa has not authorized any individual, group, or organization to collect funds or carry out any organizing activities on its behalf.
President Anura Kumara Disanayake paid a visit to the Vatican Embassy this afternoon (24) to extend his condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Upon his arrival, the President was warmly received by Most Reverend Archbishop Brian N. Udaigwe, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican to Sri Lanka.
