The Treasury Secretary has been requested to arrange necessary funds for the local government elections but no response has been received so far, Election Commission Chairman Nimal Punchihewa said.
He also said that the decision to go ahead with the local government election will be based on the Supreme Court ruling to be received within the next two days.
However, he stressed that necessary arrangements are being made regarding the polls without any obstacle.
He also said that the Government Printing Department is carrying out the printing work required for the election.
