A 38-year-old father of two, who was a small business owner, was shot dead by a group of people at his house in Mahasenpura, Padaviya, the Padaviya Police said.

The victim was identified as Sampath, a resident of Mahasenpura.

Three men who arrived on two motorcycles had shot him with a T-56 gun while he was at home at night.

According to the information received by the police emergency hotline 119, the police went to the location of the crime.

Police said the victim who was injured died on admission to the Padaviya Hospital.
