Female DIG to lead Kalutara District for the first time

In a historic move, Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya has appointed a female Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to oversee a district for the first time in the 158-year history of the Sri Lanka Police.

DIG Padmini Weerasuriya, who previously served as the head of the Police Welfare Division, has been appointed as the Kalutara District Chief.

This groundbreaking appointment was made with the approval of the National Police Commission.

Deputy Inspector General G.A.N.L. Wijesena who was working as Kalutara Police Chief has been appointed as the Welfare Division Director
