Fines increased for overstaying foreigners

The fines charged from foreigners who overstay their visas in Sri Lanka have been increased.

According to a gazette issued by the Public Security Ministry, foreigners who overstay their visa between 7 days and 14 days from the date of visa expiry will be charged a fine of USD 250 in addition to the applicable visa fee.

Fines have been increased to USD 500 for foreigners who overstay for more than 14 days in addition to the applicable visa fee.
