Kicking off the Kandy Esala Festival, the first Kumbal Perahera will parade the streets tonight (21).
The Kumbal Perahara is scheduled to start at 7.10 pm from Sri Dalada Maligawa and will parade along Dalada Veediya and D.S. Senanayake Veediya,
Meanwhile, Kandy Municipal Commissioner Ishan Wijethilaka said that all facilities have been arranged for the devotees to watch the Perahera festival.
He said that about 600 government officials have been deployed to provide facilities.
Water will be distributed using bowsers.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) said that a special bus service would be operated in view of the Esala Perahera festival.
SLTB Chairman Lalith de Alwis said that around 350 buses will be operated during the festival period.
