First Kumbal Perahera to parade streets tomorrow

Published

on

The first Kumbal Perahera of the Kandy Esala Perahera is set to parade through the streets tomorrow (10th).

Starting at 6:06 p.m. from the Sri Dalada Maligawa, the procession will travel along Sri Dalada Veediya, D.S. Senanayake Street, Temple Road, Deva Veediya, Srimath Bennet Soysa Street, and Yatinuwara Street, before concluding along Raja Veediya.

Approximately 5,500 police officers have been deployed for security during this year’s Kandy Esala Perahera.

There is a traditional belief that watching the first Kumbal Perahera helps ward off misfortune for children. This belief draws a larger crowd to this procession compared to other Kumbal Peraheras.
