Former Navy Commander – Ravindra Wijegunawardena has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), reports say.
It is said that he was to assume duties today (14).
However, trade union representatives of the CPC say that the appointment was made after the service of the former MD – Mr. Susantha Silva was suspended by a letter.
The former Navy commander was severely criticized in 2016, for assaulting a journalist during a protest held by Hambantota port workers.
