An investigation has been launched after a photographer of the Presidential Media Division (PMD) has lodged a complaint that he had received death threats over the phone by a former Director General of the PMD.
According to the complaint, he had been threatened on Nov. 11.
Several items of the PMD, including a drone camera, were found missing during a search conducted at the division’s facilities after President Anura Kumara Dissanayake assumed office. An internal audit has also been initiated to investigate the matter.
Claiming he was aware that the photographer had been providing information regarding the missing equipment, the former PMD DG had allegedly threatened the former.
Kahathuduwa police is conducting further investigations.
