A forensic audit is to be conducted on the fuel distribution scam that had taken place in 2022, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera informed Parliament today.

Minister Wijesekera who was responding to an oral question raised by MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena said it has been found that the scam has been done by using duplicate invoices.

“KPMG Ltd, a local expert company will conduct the forensic audit,” the Minister said.

MP Amarasena said a certain amount of refined fuel had gone missing during importing last year.

“The fuel in 500 bowsers had been unloaded at a location which is not a storage. Three officers of the CPC alleged to have been involved in the scam have been promoted,” he also alleged.

The Minister who responded said all details over the incident can be revealed by the forensic audit.
