Former Minister Mervyn Silva has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over allegations of land fraud. The arrest took place at his residence in Battaramulla.
According to the Police Media Division, Silva is accused of preparing fraudulent deeds and selling a plot of land in the Kelaniya area. The land in question was part of government property allocated in 2010 for the construction of the Kiribathgoda New Town.
Another individual allegedly involved in the land fraud has also been arrested.
