A three-and-a-half-year-old child was killed after a neighbor attacked four members of the same family living at a house in Rabimagama, Matale with a sword.
Police said the the 38-year-old mother, 19-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son are currently receiving treatment at the Matale Hospital where the three-and-a-half-year-old son succumbed to injuries.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the murder was carried out by the neighbour as a result of a long-standing dispute between the two families.
The suspect was arrested along with the sword used in the crime.
