Fox Hill tragedy : Arrested drivers remanded (Update)

The two drivers of the racing cars involved in yesterday’s car accident at the Fox Hill Super Cross races in Diyatalawa, were remanded until April 30 by the Bandarawela Magistrate’s Court.

They were arrested while undergoing treatment in hospital this morning.

‘Fox Hill’ crash : Drivers of two racing cars arrested

The two drivers of the racing cars involved in yesterday’s (April 21) accident at the Fox Hill SuperCross races in Diyatalawa, have been arrested while undergoing treatment in hospital, the Police Media Division states.

According to the police, The “Fox Hill Super Cross 2024” racing event has now been temporarily suspended and Diyatalawa Police is conducting further investigation.

The incident occurred when a race car had veered off the race track and collided with a group of spectators.  Seven persons including five adult males and a small child were killed while 23 were injured, according to authorities.

The 28th edition of the ‘Fox Hill Super Cross’  kicked off at Diyatalawa yesterday after an absence of 05 years.

Major General Kapila Dolage of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers has been appointed as the 67th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, effective today (June 26).

He succeeds Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, who retired after serving in the post.

The charges relate to a controversial vaccine deal that allegedly involved irregularities and compromised public health safety during Rambukwella’s tenure as Minister of Health.

Ex- Health secretary arrested

Former Secretary to the Ministry of Health – Janaka Sri Chandragupta, was arrested today (June 26) by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

He was taken into custody after appearing before the CIABOC this morning to provide a statement regarding an ongoing investigation.
