The government has issued a gazette liquidating the Internal Trade Department and the Department of Telecommunication.
With the establishment of the Consumer Affairs Authority, the Internal Trade Department has been liquidated.
Also, the Department of Telecommunications, which was converted into a Corporation by an order made under Section 02 of the State Industrial Corporation Act and announced in a gazette on February 6, 1990, is the other department that has been liquidated.
The gazette was issued on June 13 by Director General / Liquidator P.H.A.S. Wijayarathna.
