The GCE O/L examination of 2022 will commence today (29) at 3,568 centres, Examinations Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara said.
A total of 472,553 candidates have applied to sit for the O/L exam.
The department said the phone numbers 0112784208, 0112784537, 0112785922 and 0112786616 can be contacted if there is any issue regarding the exam.
Police said that a special security plan has been implemented at examination centres.
Meanwhile, the National Transport Commission said that it will continue to operate school buses during the examination period as well.
The O/L exam will be held until June 8.
