Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne has filed a lawsuit against three people including owners of a YouTube channel and a website demanding Rs.500 million each in compensation for allegedly defaming him through social media platforms.
Accordingly, Rs.500 million has been demanded from Asela Dharmasiri for damaging General Gunaratne’s reputation by publishing content on a YouTube channel and a number of Facebook accounts.
Journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama has been sued for publishing these contents on a YouTube channel, demanding Rs.500 million as compensation.
Meanwhile, Ravana Lanka News website owner G. P. Nisshanka has also been sued for allegedly insulting the Defence Secretary through their website.
