Fourteen golden biscuits weighing 1.314 kg and worth Rs.27 million, which were illegally brought to Sri Lanka from Bangkok, Thailand, were taken into custody by the Customs.
Customs Spokesperson (Director) Sivali Arukgoda said a Sri Lankan passenger was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake Airport while trying to smuggle in gold biscuits.
He said that due to the continuous checking of luggage of all passengers by metal detectors, the suspect himself had revealed the gold to the Customs, and then he was taken into custody along with the gold.
