Golden Island partners with Majestic Group to launch casino at Lotus Tower

Golden Island Hospitality Ltd., said yesterday it has entered into an agreement with the renowned Majestic Group Hotels and Casinos, a leading gaming group from India, to establish the Majestic Pride Casino, Sri Lanka.

The casino will be housed in the prestigious Lotus Tower located in Colombo 10, promising a world-class gaming experience.

The Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies Ministry of Sri Lanka has granted a Casino Business License under the Casino Business (Regulation) Act, No.17 of 2010 to M/S Golden Island Hospitality Ltd. This significant development, finalised last month, marks the beginning of a new era in Sri Lanka’s gaming and hospitality sector.

An agreement with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka was also signed on 1 August 2024, under Section 17(2) of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Law No.4 of 1978, further solidifying this venture.

The Majestic Pride Casino in Sri Lanka is set to elevate the gaming landscape with its extensive array of gaming options.

With this new venture, Golden Island Hospitality and Majestic Group aim to make the Majestic Pride Casino, Sri Lanka, a premier destination for tourists, contributing to Sri Lanka’s vibrant tourism industry, economy and to create job opportunities for local Sri Lankan youth in gaming and hospitality.

For over 15 years, Majestic Group Hotels and Casinos has been a cornerstone of luxury and entertainment in Goa, attracting tourists from across India. Known for their commitment to excellence, they offer unique experiences through their diverse portfolio of properties.

CAA seizes bottled water stock in Hemmatagama over violations

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) raided a factory in Hemmatagama, Mawanella, seizing over 3,000 bottles of drinking water prepared for distribution.

Investigations revealed that the factory’s Health Ministry registration certificate had expired and was obtained using false information. The seized stock included bottles of varying sizes from 500 ml to 19 liters.

The CAA emphasized that falsely claiming standards or endorsements violates the CAA Act, and legal action will be taken against the violators. Regular raids are conducted to prevent consumer deception.
