Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and five of his family members left for Dubai, UAE on Emirates flight EK-649 at 02.55 am yesterday (26) through the VIP Lounge at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.
It was reported that they are to leave for the US from Dubai.
Former President’s son Manoj, daughter-in-law Sevwandi and grandchild are also among the people who left for Dubai.
Mr. Rajapaksa left Sri Lanka in a military craft on July 13, 2022 amidst public protests over the aggravating economic crisis in the country.
Mr and Mrs Rajapaksa, who first went to the Maldives, left for Singapore and returned to the country after about one and a half months.
The former president requested permission to leave for the US earlier but he was refused a visa.
Mr. Rajapaksa, who was a US citizen, revoked his US citizenship in order to contest for the presidential election in 2019.
