The Cabinet has approved a proposal to only allow the public to roam freely and hold religious activities at Galle Face Green with effect from April 20.

Accordingly, musical performances, political meetings or other activities that could harm the ground will be prohibited at the Galle Face Green.

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has accepted the task of conducting a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme and has already spent Rs. 220 million to carry out development programmes at the Galle Face Green.

However, Rs. 6.6 million had been spent on the repairs carried out to the Galle Face Green due to damages caused during the ‘Aragalaya’ period.
