The government has prepared a proposal to get the Election Commission’s consent to postpone the local government election for a certain period.
It was reported that this proposal will be presented when the case related to postponing the election will be taken up in the Supreme Court on February 10.
A number of reasons including the difficulty in providing funds for the election by the Finance Ministry, difficulty in providing security for the election by the police, difficulty in providing energy and power during the election and increasing the youth representation to 30% are among the proposed reasons for postponing the election.
It is said that the government intends to submit this proposal to the Election Commission in the open court and request that the election be postponed for a certain period with the agreement of the commission.
