A group of associates of former minister Mohan Lal Grero and the Nittambuwa Police are attempting to sweep a bus accident that occurred near Pasyala Primary School under the carpet, the Sri Lanka Mirror learns.

W. Tennakone, a 44-year-old lecturer at the Hapitigama National College of Education, was injured in the accident which occured on the day before yesterday (14).

Hospital sources said that one of her fingers was broken and her foot was injured in the accident. She has also lost consciousness on several occasions.

She is currently undergoing medical treatment at the Wathupitiwala Hospital and shows symptoms of vomiting.

The injured lecturer boarded the bus number ND 8598 plying from Kandy to Panadura at the Pasyala Junction at around 12.45 pm.

She was thrown out of the bus and fell to the ground as the bus which was travelling at high speed took the next turn near the Pasyala Primary School.

The onlookers had admitted her to the Wathupitiwala Hospital while the bus continued until the end of its journey.

The Sri Lanka Mirror learns that this bus is owned by the Lyceum Institute, which is owned by former Minister Grero. Due to the influence exerted on the Nittambuwa Police by the higher-ups associated with the institution, the injured teacher has been pressured several times to withdraw the complaint filed at the Nittambuwa Police.
